Team Description

The Rennstall Esslingen is the Formula Student Combustion Team of the University of Applied Sciences Esslingen. The name is based on the nickname of our university, “Stall”. The origin of the nickname reaches back to the year 1868. Back in the days the university was located in Stuttgart next to the royal stables. After the school moved to Esslingen the students took the nick with them.

Info
For the 15th time the Rennstall Esslingen will participate at FSG. A new team has formed around the Stallardo '22. Eager to improve the car, we defined our key goals of driveability, reliability, and performance. All these goals are exentuated with a clear view towards the future. We developed a new CFRP rear frame, optmized our aerodynamic packaging and reinvented our front wheels. Our team is eager to show the full potential of the Stallardo ‘22 at the event. You're invited to visit us!

01.09.2019: How to proceed after a successful 2019 season? Play safe or risk all: Since the former was not an option for us, it was obvious that we wanted to improve every module of our 2019. However, we all know 2020 hit differently. Again, the team had two choices: proceed with the finalization of the car as soon as possible or use the extra time for additional innovations. It was clear what to do. From March 2020 - October 2020, we focused on highlights to implement into our Stallardo ’21.

After a hard and instructive season of 2018, we decided to change some parts of our concept again. With a new 2-zylinder engine, we still trust our 2018 concept. Additonally, a new suspension system together with a new monocoque and a new aerodynamic package, Stallardo '19 is again way different from its predecessor. It's hard to predict what the new season will bring, but with an stable and experienced team we are chasing the top five placement again. Keep an eye on Rennstall!

As the reigning FSG Champion, all eyes will look on Rennstall Esslingen. With a completely new concept, the team would like to continue the successful way from the previous years. Having a new chassis, a new motor and a new suspension system, the whole car changed. It's hard to say what the new season will bring to the team because predicting a completely new car in its first season is hard. But if everything works like it should work, the team will again be able to drive into Top 5!

In 2006 the first building blocks for the foundation of the Rennstall Esslingen were placed at the UAS Esslingen. Meanwhile, it is the largest project at the university. The development of the Stallardo '13 started with the slogan: Revolution instead of Evolution! On this basis we designed and built our first light weight CFRP Monocoque in combination with a tubular rear space frame. Even though this was a huge step for the team, we also didn´t leave the suspension untouched. The Stallardo '13 stands on a completely newly developed 10 inch based suspension which reduces among others the unsprung mass dramatically. The Stallardo '13 is the consequence of hard work, innovation, smart ideas, reducing weight, passion for beautiful racecars, interdisciplinary cooperation and an unique team spirit.

Meanwhile, it is the largest project at the university and one of the flagship projects. With the '12 Stallardo, the sixth race car from Esslingen will start at the Formula Student Germany. The knowledge and experience of many Formula Student years are reflected in this car. The engine concept with a 4 cylinder engine transversely mounted, remains the same. However, we have revised and optimized each individual component. A specially developed gearbox, steering gear, cooling system are only a few examples. The Stallardo '12 is the consequence of hard work, experience, smart ideas, reducing weight, passion for beautiful racecars, interdisciplinary cooperation and an unique team spirit combined with aplenty of good mood!

In 2006 the first building blocks for the foundation of the Rennstall Esslingen were placed at the University of Applied Sciences Esslingen. Meanwhile, it is the largest project at the university and one of the flagship projects. The Stallardo '11 is the fifth race car from Esslingen to compete at the Formula Student Germany as well as at the events in Austria and Italy. The knowledge and experience of the previous years are reflected in this year’s car. The Team’s goal was to build a lightweight, reliable, powerful and fast car. We kept the basic concept with a transversely mounted 4 cylinder engine and a tubular steel space frame from last year’s car. However, each individual component has been revised and optimized. The engine tuning includes a new camshaft, new pistons and many other modifications. A custom designed gearbox, steering rack and cooling system are a few major design highlights. The Rennstall Esslingen was founded in 2006 when 4 students had a dream of building their own race car. This dream has led to one of the largest projects at the University of Applied Sciences Esslingen. Around 60 students from nearly every department of the university have been working together to fulfill their own dream now, the Stallardo 09. The 3rd race car out of the hands of the Rennstall is the next evolution step in the tradition of high quality manufactured, technical unique and stunning race cars from Esslingen. So it is obvious that every system of the car was reengineered to satisfy the high demands of Formula Student, the University Esslingen and of course of all members of the Rennstall-Team.The Stallardo 09 is the consequence of hard work, experience, smart ideas, reducing weight, passion for beautiful racecars, interdisciplinary cooperation and an unique team spirit combined with aplenty of "Gute Laune" ("good mood")!

The Rennstall Esslingen was founded in 2006 and participates the second time in the FSG.After the first steps with a prototype in 2006, later called Stallardo´06, nearly 70 Students began to design the last year competition car, Stallardo´07. With this car the first experiences and, above all, results could be earned and celebrated. In November 2007 the team started to design its dream: the Stallardo´08.The main tasks were not only to build an average car, the Rennstall designed a car which can step into the footprints of its predecessor. Every system of the Stallardo´07 was completely reworked, taking the costs, reliabitlity and the weight into account.New systems and innovations were integrated into the new vehicle while we kept the idendity of a Stallardo - an emotional and beautiful car, appearing with an extraordinary stylingWith a huge gain in experience, new ideas and technologies the team is confident that its efforts will ensure success in the Formula Student Germany 200
