Founded in 2010, E-Team Duisburg-Essen proudly presents the A40-06. This season, our focus was clear—strip complexity, refine the essentials, and build a car that does the basics exceptionally well. From a lightweight tubular spaceframe to 10” wheels, every decision aimed at reducing weight and boosting efficiency. We simplified assembly, improved maintainability, and ensured seamless subsystem integration. The result: a fast, reliable car, built by a focused and passionate team.

We are the E-Team Duisburg-Essen, comprising 60 members from 6 technical and 2 organizational departments. Our latest project, the A40-05, features a sponsored Apex transmission, new HVDB, HV-Accumulator, and modular Tractive Systems for efficient troubleshooting. The aerodynamics have been redesigned for interchangeable front and rear wing parts. In suspension, we use topology-optimization to 3D-printed our metal components.

The A40 Electra is the first car of the formula student electric team from the University of Duisburg-Essen. Founded in the end of 2010, we are going to participate in the Formula Student Event in Hockenheim 2013 for the first time. Ever since we started designing an electric racing car we constantly enhanced our knowledge and manpower, now we are nearly 30 Students. Our A40 Electra is driven by two 30kW electric motors that are transmitting their power through a 7:1 ratio planetary gearbox. Noticeable is our new, self-designed and self-produced skin and the new, casted wheel carriers that were designed by our team as well. All major electronic parts offer a maximum of safety and serviceability. We are hoping to achieve our aims and show a memorable performance in Hockenheim this year!
