Team Description

Mainfranken Racing at University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt is a non-profit association‚ that was founded in September 2006. Born out of the idea of some motor sports enthusiastic students.

After participating at Formula Student Germany in 2007 we finished with 14th place overall and 2nd runner up in the newcomer competition in Hockenheim. These results pushed our ambition to build an even better car over the whole eleven years.
With the knowledge of ten seasons in formula student we look forward to present our best overall concept in August 2018 in FS Austria and FS Germany.

The Team started with 40 active members into the new Season 2017/2018 and is going to grow again.
Furthermore we want to provide a basis for future seasons at our university.

Info
Founded in 2006, the Mainfranken Racing e.V. has built a Formula Student car the fifth time by a small but effective team of about twenty members. We can look back by our standards to an amazing and successful history. Forced by passion we want to draw on that. With much blood, sweat and tears the almost new team with no event experience set up a racecar with a reasonable design in all manners. The compromise between performance and reliability, availability, maintainability and serviceability that is reached is in the end the best available total package. The born MFFive is hiding a lot of highly sophisticated technical solutions. It comes with carbon fibre rims and an innovative intake manifold. Other highlights are the steering-wheel with entirely self-developed hard- and software and a multifunctional display. Singularly the participation with a properly functioning car is already an upright success. But we want to take the road to more... Let’s see in Hockenheim!

Mainfranken Racing e.V. was founded in September 2006, born out of the idea of some motor sport enthusiastic students. Currently, the team consists of 30 motivated students who develop and build the fourth Formula Student racecar. Driven by ambition and realizing ideas in creative ways, the team manages to upgrade the vehicle's performance. Besides increasing the power of the engine, we reduce the fuel consumption and the overall weight by substantial value. The incremental know-how of dealing with fiber-reinforced plastic enables us to build a streaming-optimized and eminently light-weight paneling. Through cumulative applications of the rapid prototyping process we are able to manufacture remarkably fast and economically. In the tournament, we therefore can also participate competitively in delicate economic-conditions. Furthermore, we want to create a basis for future FSG-seasons at our university.
