Info
The year is 2018 AD. Saxony-Anhalt is totally occupied by creebying drivers. Well, not entirely… One small workshop with 50 indomitable students still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the slow sneaky drivers from all over the Formula Student world who wants to challenge the UMD Racing team, overtake our race car with its GSR 600 Suzuki motor, have a more orange aero package, develop a better business plan idea, be more shiny and colourful...

We are the UMD Racing Team, the Formula Student Team of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. Last year we laid the foundations by designing a solid base to build upon this season. Our new mass reduced frame and the use of Aluminium wishbones is thenext step to optimize the car, as well as data acquisition and driver radio. We would like to thank all of our sponsors and looking forward to the Event.

Info
It´s the 4th year for UMD Racing, the Formula Student team from the Otto-von-Guericke University from Magdeburg, Germany. We are happy and proud to cooperate with the lightweight construction and industrial design faculties from the University of Applied Science located in Magdeburg. With the help of our sponsors and new team members, we concentrated on designing our parts more simple and reliable while keeping our main concept, the side engine, alive. The frame is made of space tubes and at critical points, like the suspension attachments, square profiles. To keep the car balanced although the engine is located on the side of the car, the frame is built asymmetrically. As said before we like to thank our sponsors and most of all the Otto-von-Guericke University for supporting us with knowledge, manpower and manufacturing sites. Good luck to all and see you on track!

Info
2011 is the second season of the “UMD Racing” - team, the Formula Student project at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg. The main aim is to gain experience and come off well with the dynamic events successfully as opposed to the last year where our team participate in Italy. With over 70 students we made a big step forward, especially at the construction. So the focus at construction of the “UMD-FS2011” was on the left-side-concept by using the compact single-cylinder engine, which allows us to concentrate the inertia force around the vertical axis. To balance the car the driver position is decentralize. An another aspect was to reduce weight: This could be realized not only by using carbon fibre for structural elements like the steering wheel and the seat but also by optimisation with the finite elements methods for the pedals e.g. We would like to express our gratitude to all our sponsors and supporters which made it possible to build this car!
