Global Formula Racing is an international collaborative Formula Student team from DHBW Ravensburg and Oregon State University. Each year we build two cars and compete with them in Europe and North America. 2024 marks the first year GFR is building one car exclusively for competitions in North America and one exclusively for Europe. Both cars are fitted with a driverless system.

Global Formula Racing is an international collaborative Formula Student team from Oregon State University and DHBW Ravensburg. Each year we build two cars, one combustion, and one electric, sharing chassis, aerodynamics and suspension packages. 2019 marks the first year GFR is also working on a driverless car in addition For the Season 2019 we changed our Drivetrain Concept from a 2WD concept to a 4WD hubmotor concept.

GFR was formed in the 2009 season from the two FS teams of Oregon State University and DHBW Ravensburg. Students from both schools work collaboratively to design, build and test two vehicles each year. In 2016 we have built one combustion and one electric car with shared chassis, aerodynamics and suspension packages. The electric car will compete alongside our combustion car at FS Germany and FS Austria.

Global Formula Racing is the first innovative global collaboration of its kind in the history of all Formula Student programs.Both universities - Oregon State University(OSU) and DHBW-Ravensburg - share physical and intellectual resources since 2010: Design, manufacturing and testing occur simultaneously-over 9 time zones and 8600km distance. The former BA-Racing-Team from Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) and the Beaver Racing team from Oregon State University (OSU) have combined forces to compete as a single entity 2010. The two universities share physical and intellectual resources by using advanced communication-technology to create a highly competitive vehicle. Design, manufacturing, and testing occur simultaneously at both schools. The supply chain management is unique in Formula Student and, as well as the English language, the team language, very important for cross-border cooperation. The 2010 car laid down a foundation, that since, is being continuously improved. In 2013 we will, for the third time, build a combustion car at OSU and an electrical car at DHBW. In 2013, we will reconfirm our successful seasons from the past two years.

The two universities since then share physical and intellectual resources to create a highly competitive vehicle worthy of international reputation. In 2011, we will reconfirm our successful season from 2010. This will be achieved by using the effective 2010 basis and build one car with a combustion drivetrain, and one car with an electric drivetrain. The combustion car will be manufactured and tested at the OSU campus in Corvallis, Oregon, USA and the electric powered car at the DHBW-RV, Friedrichshafen, Germany. Both cars will compete side by side.
